Testimonies of Healing

Truly Unfallen

From the March 2024 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I was a teenager, I was running errands with my parents on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. On my way down a long set of steps leading out of the local post office, I missed one and fell down. When I got up and put weight on my right foot, it buckled and was quite painful, so I hobbled down the rest of the steps and got in our family car with the help of my parents, who began to pray with me right away.

I found this prayer comforting, especially as we affirmed that God had created me in His image, and God’s image was “very good” (see Genesis 1:31). This meant to me that in spite of what appeared to have happened, in actuality I was truly unfallen and upright.

My foot was quite painful, but as I was wearing high, tight boots, I was unable to look at the foot until I arrived home. When I removed my boot with the gentle help of my mother, although the skin wasn’t punctured, my ankle appeared to be broken, and I was in a lot of pain. Because I had been healed through Christian Science in the past, I knew I could rely on it for healing this time, too.
